I guess I'm starting a blog!

Hi friends!

My dream of starting a blog has unexpectedly come into fruition with the start of my own site to sell my art. It turns out... when you have your own website you can like... do whatever you want with it? Super crazy, I know. So I've added a blog page and I'm excited to post very infrequently and with seemingly no purpose other than to hear myself type. Jk. Sort of.

I thought I'd start out with talking a bit about my art journey thus far. In November of 2019, I was laid off from a retail job I'd been at for the past 5 years because the store was closing. My boyfriend and I had just gone from living in a two story house with two roommates to living in our own small one bedroom apartment. I had also been going through a very transformative time with my friendships, relationship with my family, and my relationship with myself.

I had a falling out with someone that was important to me around the time the store closed and I was deeply depressed for weeks. It took a lot of work to pull myself out of that hole. And when I finally did, I wanted to find something to do with all of my free, unemployed time until I found another job. Maybe a side hustle or just a hobby. I thought back to how much I loved art growing up. I used to draw cats and puppies and give them to the lunch ladies in elementary school and they'd hang them up in the cafeteria. I remember feeling so proud of myself. I wanted to get back into doing art. I wanted to be an artist and I felt ready to have the patience and understanding with myself to try and practice until I got it right. Until I could be a GOOD artist. An artist I could be proud to be.

And so I did!! I started painting with acrylic and wow I sucked at color theory, shadows, highlights, detail, and lots more. But it was easier than I thought it'd be. And it felt so good to create. And even though I wasn't the best ever at it, people still loved that I was creating and what I created. People wanted to BUY my art. WHAAAAAAATTTTTT?

Now it's 2026 and after a few years of hiatus from creating, I got back into it. In fact, I got even MORE into it. I have painted more than ever and I have painted better than ever these past few months. I truly believe it's only up from here. I hope you all can stay with me and watch my art grow!!

So all this to say. It might not be super easy, but I bet it'll go better than expected. Follow your dreams. Do the things you've always wanted to do but have been too afraid to. If it seems like you've got no one in your corner, you've got me! Love uuuuuuu,

Sky
